Edinburgh Fringe Chats (#38): Glen Neath, DARKFIELD RADIO

Conducted by Emmie for Theatre and Tonic

As anticipation builds for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2025, we’re catching up with a range of exciting creatives preparing to bring their work to the world’s largest arts festival this August. In this series, we delve into the stories behind the shows, the inspiration driving the artists, and what audiences can expect.

Today, we’re joined by Glen Neath to chat about Darkfield Radio.

1. Can you begin by telling us about your show and what inspired it?

We created these shows during the Covid lockdown for people to do in their homes. We wanted to explore themes that people might enjoy doing with a partner or friend. Double wonders what it would be like if your partner had been replaced by an evil replica. Visitors is about disembodied spirits looking for a foothold. In Eternal you’re in bed with a vampire.

2. What made you want to bring this work to the Fringe this year?

The shows are all about invading your personal space. We wanted to see if we could present all three shows in the same space at the same time. Maximum invasion.

3. How would you describe your show in three words?

Unsettling, unique, fun

4. What do you hope audiences take away from watching your performance?

We want our audiences to leave excited enough to book in to see Eulogy or Arcade, which we also have running at the Fringe.

5. What’s your top tip for surviving the Fringe?

Don’t expect the comforts you get at home. Drink plenty of water.

6. Where and when can people see your show?

DARKFIELD RADIO: DOUBLE / VISITORS / ETERNAL are on in The Old Lab at Summerhall, at various times every day from 12 noon.
