Intu Derby's Paradise Island Adventure Golf.
Intu Derby has recently developed it's shopping centre by adding two additions under it's roof, a Hollywood Bowl (which I need to give a test drive immediately!) and the Paradise Island Adventure Golf. I was kindly invited to give the adventure golf a test drive so with my competitive boyfriend in tow and a surge of determination to win we gave it a go.
The new indoor adventure golf leisure destination offers the ultimate mini-golf challenge with two bespoke 18-hole golf courses for you to have a go at. It's space is 14,000 sq ft and they really have brought it to life in the two different courses with the various decorations they've chosen. The mini-golfers' skills are tested through a maze of obstacles and uneven terrain.
The prices vary from £6.00 for a child between 5-16 years to a Adult which is £8.00 for one course, there's an additional charge of around £3-4.50 to play both courses.
Having experienced quite a few mini-golf adventures this one wasn't as adventurous in it's potting hole challenges. Me and Jordan found it got a bit boring after the 3rd hole because of this, the only really 'challenge' as such was getting the ball over an uneven terrain. It took around 15-20 minutes to complete the course which was quite disappointing, but I suppose you could do this before heading to Hollywood Bowl or to watch a film at the cinema on Intu Derby's site if you fancy it. I would definitely think this activity appeals more to a family than a date night for adults, I think it's lack of challenge was a let down for me personally.
I do however think the Adventure Golf is a real great addition to the fantastic restaurants, shopping and cinema already offered by Intu Derby so will be enjoyed a lot by young people and their families, especially over the summer months or a rainy day!
