#IbisLates on Tour, Birmingham City Centre.

It's not often that your invited along to an event when it brings together live music and a hotel, so being invited to get an experience of the ibis Lates on tour whilst it was in Birmingham was the perfect opportunity. Despite the weather being miserable outside the night hosted by Ibis Hotels was an absolute blast. As I arrived a bit later than I expected I didn't have time to take photos of the bedroom before rushing downstairs in time for the evening's entertainment to begin. Fortunately for me the goodie bag left on my hotel bed was a dream; it contained a t-shirt with the event logo on it, a sleep mask, some Betron headphones and some Butterkist popcorn thrown in for a good snack choice. 

The idea of 'ibis Lates' is to facilitate exclusive gigs in partnership with The Roundhouse which supports the Teenager Cancer Trust. It provides a series of secret gigs held in ibis hotel lobbies across the UK to raise money as well as awareness for the charity trust. The gigs bring along with them great regional up and coming artists and DJ's including for us Birmingham-based Ekkah who are easily my kind of music vibe. It was a night that has definitely left a mark on my experiences as a blogger. 

As I am often in Birmingham for performances at the Birmingham Hippodrome, having this hotel minutes down the road from the theatre is perfect. The room was small but comfortable, the bed was great to tuck into after breaking some moves on the dancefloor earlier in the evening that's for sure. 

The event itself in the evening began around 7pm and finished around 1am, if you enjoy some good music then this would definitely be your vibe. We were allowed into a green room where there was food and drink available for us to enjoy as well as having the opportunity to hang out with the artists performing during the event. The first act Kenan Kian was an example of how you can turn your life around and pursue anything you'd like to. Having battled with being homeless he bared his soul in his performance and his music definitely aligned with some aspects of my life. He really connected with the crowd, managed to show off his incredible moves and his music is really something to watch out for. Secondly was Malunga, an act who combines the authentic sound of a slap box as well as a piano and the elegant sound of the leading lady completely filled the room. The finale was Ekkah and definitely the best act of the night for me. Being Birmingham based they had a real 80's pop feel to their music and I've even downloaded their music off Spotify already!

I thought that each of the artists that performed for us where each every individual, creating their own atmospheres and vibes in the hotel lobbies. It was a real blast of a night and I can't thank Ibis Hotel enough for allowing me to come along to experience it!
