Hot on the heels of all the spectacle of the 97th Academy Awards ceremony on Sunday, the nominations have been announced for the 2025 Olivier Awards, with the ceremony due to take place at the Royal Albert Hall on 6th April. It will be hosted by Beverley Knight and Billy Porter, with highlights being broadcast on ITV and Magic Radio.

The nominations were announced in a live-stream hosted by two of last year’s winners, Nicole Scherzinger and Tom Francis, who were named the Best Actor and Actress in a Musical for their performances in Sunset Boulevard.

Ahead of its return to the Barbican Theatre this summer, the Regents Park production of Fiddler on the Roof leads the way, with 13 nominations that include best revival and director, as well as for its leading and supporting acting cast members. It also dominates the technical categories.

Other notable nominees include Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812 with six nominations, and Oliver! and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button with four each in the musical categories. Play nominations are led by Giant and The Years, with five each.
