The Plough at Lupton, Cumbria.
Situated near Kirkby Lonsdale, the pub, restaurant and B&B is in a fantastic location for anyone heading on to the Lakes or the Yorkshire Dales. We absolutely loved the idea that our hotel was situated outside a small village that gave us the peace and tranquillity for a night's stay. But also was in a great location for some little adventures too!
Parts of the building date back to the 17th century and really gives the place a cosy and homely feel. There are several quirky touches, including a Dales-style signpost in the entrance, that ensure there's some modern style whilst still retaining its character. I loved this combination of modern and it's original character that made it a really great place to stay at.
DINING AT THE PLOUGH AT LUPTON
Our first port of call was to the restaurant. The restaurant serves local produce in seasonally focused menus. We were quickly seated in their large restaurant and it seemed a quite popular place to dine at because the place was pretty full at 9pm on a Friday night. The service was prompt and friendly, the food was delicious and the staff were indefinitely knowledgeable about the food they were serving.
I really enjoyed the tasty Potato and Leek soup, the perfect Autumn warmer for me personally. Followed on by a perfectly cooked Fish and Chips dish. The mushy peas were quite tasteless so I definitely needed the help of my tartare sauce and some vinegar to add more flavour to my meal. Jordan enjoyed a Salmon starter and a Pork Belly main which he seemed to inhale because it was gone in a flash! We didn't have a dessert as we were pretty full and shattered from a 4.5-hour drive but they all sounded delicious and I'd definitely go for one if I was to dine there again.
STAYING AT THE PLOUGH AT LUPTON
There are six bedrooms to choose from at The Plough at Lupton - all come equipped with luxury linens, decadent toiletries and caters for both couples and families. We were thoroughly spoilt on our visit and stayed in the stunning 685 sq ft Torsin room. The Torsin room can accommodate up to five people thanks to a sofa bed but it also used as the honeymoon suite on site. We couldn't believe the room whatsoever.
Not only were we able to sit and enjoy the TV from the comfort of the sofa but we could also turn on the record player (with a variety of different vinyls that accommodated to my music tastes well!) to help us relax too. The bedroom is spacious, comfortable and undoubtedly welcoming, but the biggest selling point for this hotel is the incredible bathroom. It's an en-suite but it's more than that, it was huge! It came with a free-standing bath (which I enjoyed thoroughly as a I sipped on a G&T and listened to Michael Jackson) but also a large separate shower cubicle. The en-suite is the perfect sanctuary when you've got back from a muddy walk around the area.
GOOD MORNING!
After a great night's sleep in our Torsin room and after enjoying a cup of tea whilst listening to some Fleetwood Mac, we headed downstairs to have breakfast. Considering our room was situated at the front of the hotel and the pub is busy in the evenings, the room is very quiet and we had no disturbances through the night.
The Plough offers a continental breakfast for early risers, but if you're like me and enjoy a slight lie in when at a hotel, there's also a fantastic range of cooked options from 8.30am available.

I opted for the traditional breakfast (I needed all of the energy I could get before heading out to Ingleton Waterfalls Trail in the day!) and I wasn't disappointed. It really set me up for the day and was really delicious, there was enough food on my plate.
The Plough is both a fantastic place to break up your journey and to make up a fantastic weekend up in this area of Britain. I would definitely recommend a visit - whatever the weather! The hotel does have dog-friendly rooms available (except the Torsin) and rooms range from £85-£135 per night.
